Annual General Meeting 2019
The Annual General Meetings are held in June at the Visitor Centre. This year's meeting is scheduled for Saturday June 22 at 10:30 am. The AGM is open to all members of the public but you must be a member of Friends of Misery Bay to vote, and if you aren’t a member, you can get a membership at the meeting!
This year, we are pleased to welcome our Guest Speaker Franco Mariotti speaking on
Natural Places; Their significance and why We need them!
"What can we learn when we experience such places. Why are they so crucial to both our physical and mental well being."
Guided Tours to Enrich Your Visit
Our summer staff are happy to give guided tours to small groups. They can point out the special features like fossils in the pavement, glacial chattermarks, wild orchids and other unusual plants when they are in bloom, explain about species at risk that live in the alvar habitat or in the fen, plants that propagate using spores and are related to ancient plants before the rise of pollinators like bees. They can tell you about some of the challenges facing Manitoulin, like the invasive plant phragmites, which is taking over cattail habitat.
If you enjoy your tour, please help with a donation to Friends of Misery Bay so that we can continue offering educational tours.
