Guided Tours to Enrich Your Visit
Our summer staff are happy to give guided tours to small groups. They can point out the special features like fossils in the pavement, glacial chattermarks, wild orchids and other unusual plants when they are in bloom, explain about species at risk that live in the alvar habitat or in the fen, plants that propagate using spores and are related to ancient plants before the rise of pollinators like bees. They can tell you about some of the challenges facing Manitoulin, like the invasive plant phragmites, which is taking over cattail habitat.
If you enjoy your tour, please help with a donation to Friends of Misery Bay so that we can continue offering educational tours.
Annual General Meeting 2018
The Annual General Meetings are held in June at the Visitor Centre. This year's meeting is scheduled for Saturday June 23 at 10:30 am. The AGM is open to all members of the Friends of Misery Bay, and if you aren’t a member, you can get a membership at the meeting! This year, the new exhibits designed and built by the professionals at Science North will be the big feature.
The highlight of the day is always the guest speaker, with entertaining talks on new natural science research, like the evidence that plants are aware of and respond to their surroundings. Please check here again to see this year’s topic.
